Is there any way to retrieve a lost document?

I spent hours drafting a document, went home and returned to find that my
computer had rebooted and my document was nowhere to be found.

There may be some autosave information you can recover, or it could just be
that you saved the document but can't find it (did you really spend hours on
a document without once saving it?), but the best place to ask the question
is in a Word newsgroup. This group is for Access, a relational database
program.

Try using Window's "Find" feature. Search for files containing some
unique test string that would have been in that document like "red Corvette"
etc. You might also restrict it by date. Don't identify the file type.
Then let Windows do the work. It may take a few minutes, but with luck you
will find all or part of your document.
