Is there any cure for spyware?

I have some problems using the following anti-spyware
programs:

Microsoft Antispyware
This spyware (SearchMiracle.EliteBar Browser Plug-in)
keeps appearing on the next scan even after I have deleted
it for many times. I have sent the suspected spyware
report.

AdAware
I ran the scan and it detected several spyware. However,
everytime before the scan could complete, a system
shutdown thing appears and shut down my computer
automatically.

Yahoo! AntiSpy
These spyware (SearchMiracle.Elite, ISTbar) keeps
appearing on the next scan even after I deleted them for
many times.

I deleted my temporary internet files and tried running
all the programs above in safe mode. But when I restart my
computer back to normal, all the problems still exist.

Help...

Adeline,

Welcome to the newsgroup.
Here are a couple of links that will help you. The first one is just for
background. I strongly recommend you follow the advice at the second link.
Adware programs tend to evolve and what worked in March may not work today.

Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

No one program does the whole job.
Run a free firewall such as Zone Alarm Free.
Run Spybot search and destroy. It's also free.

Also run a good free anti virus program such a AVGfree.
Although there are several. Try running them during the trial period. Also
try running them in safe mode.

It is a hard job when you are infested by these parasites.
I don't let all of these, except zone alarm run on start-up so they don't
use up memory.

Good luck.

A million thanks to Bob Vanderveen. :D

I tried those softwares in the link you recommended. They
kept shuting down before the scan could complete. So I
decided to run them in safe mode and they works.
SearchMiracle.EliteBar Browser Plug-in and more adwares
were deleted. There's no more pop-ups when I'm online.
However my computer memory is still fluctuating every few
seconds. How do I know whether my computer is free from
spyware?

Congratulations, Adeline.<g>

If MSAS, Adaware, and Spybot-S&D all run without finding anything, you can
be fairly sure your system is clean. One more thing you can do is to
download HijackThis at:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Do *not* delete anything!

Copy the log file and paste into the page here:
http://hjt.iamnotageek.com/

Again...do *not* delete anything!

Use google to find info on all questionable entries. If you still aren't
sure ask questions in this or other forums.

Once you have verified that something really is malware, you can delete it.

Use with extreme caution, as the auto-analyzer *will* highlight some files
that you do not want to remove.
