Is there an option with MS Mail that will prevent display of contents when message line clicked?

In Outlook, you could set it up so clicking did not read or display the
contents of the message whose line in the list is highlighted. Now, under
the Vista version, if you click on a message, it's contents is display about
half way down (unless you move the border with your mouse. Can I get the
old Outlook behavior? I looked under General and Read in options and didn't
see anything that looked like it.
