Is there an easier/quicker way?

I'm trying to transfer my old VHS movies that I taped off
TV (with commercials), to DVD (without commercials;

I have my VCR connected to the computer with an analog
capture device (AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0)

I use WMM22 to capture the movie as a wmv file (takes 1-
1/2 hours).
Then I edit out the commercials on the WMM2 timeline (15
minutes)
Then I save the file to My Videos as a dv-avi file which
is usually about 15 gigs!(another 1-1/2 hours)
Then I use Sonic MyDVD to make the DVD from the dv-avi
file (another 1-1/2 hours).

Is there an easier/quicker way?

If you accept lower quality than full DV-AVI, you could save the movie from
MM2 as a WMV file, which might render quicker... and use that as the source
file for MyDVD.

But, you've got the process down.... you'll just have to schedule around it,
or put one of your older computers to work so you can do two at once.
