I need to put a software code fragment in to a word document. Is
there a way to selectivly disable spell checking and grammer around
it without having to ignore each individual word?
The best method is to create a style (for example, call it Code). Besides
setting the font formatting that's specific for code, click the Format
button in the New Style dialog and choose Language. In the dialog that
appears, check the box for "Do not check spelling or grammar". The spell
checker will ignore any text to which you apply this style.
For quick-and-dirty work, you can apply the "Do not check" directly to any
text by selecting the text, going to Tools > Language > Set Language, and
checking the same box. However, direct formatting of this kind can leave you
scratching your head later when you can't figure out why spell checking is
"unexplainably" disabled.
