Is there a way to rename a device? DVD-RW drive for example?

Hi,
I just bought this rather nice DVD burner, 16x + and -, fast CD-R/RW
recording, dual layer, etc. The damn thing shows up everywhere as "_NEC
DVD_RW ND-3500AG". In Device Manager it looks like that. Inside the Nero
program it looks like that. In my registry, I tried searching, and in
about 50 places it looks like that. Is there a way I can rename this
thing to something nicer like "DVD-RW 3500" no ugly underscores or extra
letters? If it's possible I'd like to know how.

That I know. It's fine in "my computer," I should have mentioned. It's
not the label so to speak, it's the name of the device. There's no
rename field in the context menu in the Device Manager though.
 
Leave it alone.. Your Writing Software is looking For the TRUE NAME to
make sure it is Compatible ... ( ROXIO .NERO ) If u make up ur own
name u may Get error that SAY No Compatible HARDWARE found !!

If the Name doesnot Suit you,, I wud suggest you tale it Back and Buy
one with a NAME u like !!!
