Help, please... DVD burner not recognized

Can someone help me please? Thanks.

I replaced my DVD player with a new DVD-RW and it's not being recognized.

Symptoms:
--- Windows Explorer shows it in the Folders tree as "CD Drive (D:)" when
it's actually a DVD-RW drive.
--- But the hardware tab of the drive properties from Windows Explorer shows
the correct name, "_NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG".
--- Device Manager shows the correct name also.
--- Nero sees it like Win Explorer sees it, and won't let me start a DVD
project.
--- Win Explorer will not allow me to drag files to the drive for copying
either.

Things I did:
--- I enabled/disabled CD recording in the Recording tab of the drive's
properties from Win Explorer.
--- I set the jumper like the one it replaced (cable select). A pre-existing
CD-RW is in the system as well.
--- Rebooted many times.

System:
NEC ND-3500 DVD-RW
Dell 8100
Windows XP
P4 1.5GHz 512MB RAM

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me.

I'm not sure what fixed it, but Nero now works with the new DVD burner. I
uninstalled Nero, Alcohol120, and Roxio, then installed the newsest version
of Nero.

??????????
