is there a way to record narration in mp3 format in powerpoint?

Is anyone aware of a way to record narration for powerpoint presentations
using mp3 format?

I don't believe you can do this inside powerpoint.

You would have to record the audio in another piece of software and then
insert it into individual slides inside powerpoint.

the software called audacity would do the job. I believe it can save in the
mp3 format, which powerpoint (version 2000 onwards) can insert quite
happily.
