Is there a way to do this without formatting and starting over?

I had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP Professioanl. Before I
did this, when I clicked on "shutdown" in my Start windows, a window would
come up with 2 or 3 buttons for shutdown or restart and you would just click
on the one of your choice. Now, after I had to start over, that windows is
gone. I have the usual "drop down menu". I read on the Microsoft web site
that if Windows thinks you're part of a network, it doesn't install those
buttons but I didn't see a fix for it. I have gone the route of using Windows
XP themes, disabling "classic menu" in the display properties, etc. I ran the
gpedit.msc progran but that didn't help anything because my shutdown isn't
missing from the start menu. I want to replace the shutdown window in the
"drop-down" format for the shutdown windown with buttons/icons I click on. If
I'm making any sense and anyone knows how to do this, please pass it on.
Thanks for your time! Jones

First off, if this computer is a member of a domain, you won't
be able to follow this procedure.

Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click on User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on of off".
Make sure there's a check mark in the box next to "Use the
Welcome Screen". You can also check "Use Fast User Switching"
if you want.
Hit the Apply Options button.
Go to Start and click on "Turn off Computer" to see if the
correct shutdown option is displayed.

Good luck

Thank you Nepatsfan! That worked! I appreciate your help sooooo much! I never connected the "welcome screen" having anything to do with the shutdown window but it does. Thanks again! Jones
