i want to figure out if there is a way to automatically download my mail from
my gmail account so i dont have to do it myself every time.

Tools > Options > General >

tick box "Check for new messages every "

Then set the time interval.

Note. You shouldn't set it to less than say 10 minutes
otherwise you'll risk impacting response times and perhaps
pissing off Gmail sufficient for them to block for a few hours
or more, perhaps days.
 
Just checking, keep getting no sender specified when I try to post to Corel
newsgroup.
