In previous versions of I/Explorer it was possible to open a web page, in
ftp without typing in login & pass and simply include these in the URL e.g.:

ftp://login:p[email protected]/

I seem to remember this path could also be assigned to Windows folder
shortcut

It made accessing your web space (with one single click) as easy as using a
folder on your computer

IE7 doesn't seem to support this anymore

Vista folder shortcuts dont support this either

Is there a single-click methods of accessing my web space?

IE was always a poor FTP client anyway. I think there are some options in
Internet Options > Advanced, that deal with the way IE7 does FTP. Try
those.

But, instead, why don't you right-click some whitespace in Computer, and add
your webspace as a Network Location? Much better.

They made a lot of changes in IE7 that made this more difficult to
simplify. It's been a while since I dug around in this area so the
specifics are foggy, but you can't get exactly what you want anymore
with a user/pass in the URL. Single click is not going to happen
AFAIK. Also, exactly what happens will depend on whether or not the
remote FTP server has anonymous login enabled.

Try this:
Copy a shortcut to your desktop (from the Accessories menu) for
Windows Explorer. Right Click, Properties, Target, and change the
target to:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, ftp://[email protected]

Note that putting the password in there is likely non-functional. You
can try it. Either way, this will prompt you for a username and
password. Input that and you will have an explorer view of the FTP
site.
