Is There a Proven Vista-Compatible WMA Encoder?

Hello.

I'm having difficulty encoding my MP3 files to WMA format. I've been
using third-party utilities, namely WinLAME.

WinLAME succeeds in converting the files, but it does not delete the
original source files upon completion.

I have a program called Active WMA Studio that apparently is not
compatible with Vista.

Just for the heck of it, I tried the XP Bonus Pack with the WMA LE
Encoder. That didn't work. Vista blocked it from even being
installed.

I'd prefer, at least for now, to use a third-party utility. I've been
experiencing difficulties with Windows Media Player, so I'd prefer to
use an external program, if possible.

Also, being a cheap SOB, I'd prefer freeware.

Can anyone recommend something that's Vista-compatible?

Thank you!

I'm familiar with that program.

I don't think it does batch conversion, does it?

What if I have hundreds of files to convert?
Sorry for not mentioning that first.

I need to batch convert hundreds of files.

Let me rephrase the question: Is there a proven, reliable
Vista-compatible WMA encoder that isn't made by Microsoft?

As regards WME:
There is indeed a batch conversion script ( WMCmd.vbs ) included with it.
It may not do what you want, but it is there. =)

I don't believe it. I have a copy of db power amp and forgot
completely about it. Sheesh. Sorry about that. Thanks.

I spoke too soon. This doesn't do what I want.

I don't see an option for deleting the original source files upon
completion.

Am I wrong? Does db Power Amp have a Delete Files option?

I don't see it anywhere.

Hello daniel.. the one I have on this computer does have this function...

so I believe that any later version must have it also!

I am using the last 100% freeware version that you can download here
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe

v 10.1 (2004-01) (dMC-r10.exe) (1484 KB)

The latest version (12) is free but you have to pay only if you want to
convert to mp3 I think.

Im using 10.1 on XP and have not tried it yet on vista.. but Im sure if this
older one can delete files upon
conversion the new one can too.. or you can try 10.1 that should work on
vista as well...

if you try it, can you tell me if it does work on vista?

You must also download the wma plugin from the developers site of course...
