Is there a better way to take snapshots of Vista?

I've been using Vista for almost a month and liked the feature of Snipshots
(not sure of the name) to take customized screen shoots, but (probably, I
will get flamed for this) in MacOSX Tiger besides the application for taking
screenshots there is also a key shortcut to take a customized screenshot and
automatically convert that image into a jpeg or tiff without user
intervention, you simply select with the cursor the zone you want to snap in
and when you finish select it automaticaly appeas in the desktop the file of
that jpeg.

Is there a similar way in vista to take snapshots?

Snagit 8 is far superior to the Vista built in and is Vista certified, not
free but much better.

I don't believe there is. Snipshots (I forget the name too :)) and
PrintScrn (and Alt+PrintScrn for window specific shot) are the only native
ways to take a screenshot in Vista. As also suggested, there are many other
applications that can take screenshots and are more customizable.

And to yout macosx comment (here we go :p), if MS had develped a "great"
screenshot app, then 3rd party companies like the suggested would run crying
to the government over anti-trust (its the IE/Netscape and WMP/Real fight
all over again). Apple does not have this issue since not many can be
bothered to develop for it (also since their market share is so small).
Apple seems to be exempt from all hardware and software problems that MS is
constantly hounded about, which is only because Apple chooses what happens
and nobody complains. Wouldn't it be fun to watch AMD fire up if Microsoft
said, "we're going to only use Intel CPUs"? Apple on the other hand, get
away with it.

Whoops, sorry for my rant :) Have a nice day :)

No - he means something for VISTA. Maybe you and Alias are related?
I wrote a program "like" this, not this :p

Anyway, looks like kde 4 will be compiled for windows, so you will be able
to use a perfect desktop in your pour system.

I really don't understand the op, if he knows MacOs, what does he want with
Myopic Vista?
