Suppose the user has no clue about Vista? You gonna go over to his place
and train him?
Just as much of a valid question...
One thing I've always found amusing is ever since PCs entered the
retail channel they came pre installed with some OS, often Windows.
That in part is because Microsoft hammered out deals with box makers
like IBM, Dell and Gateway, etc.. Such a policy is just as goofy as
buying a new refrigerator and it comes stocked with food that somebody
decided in advance was what you were suppose to eat.
People should have a right to CHOOSE!
For some people Ubuntu IS a better choice.
For some people Windows IS a better choice.
For some people a Mac is better than either of the above
Then for other users BeOS or UNIX or something else may be better.
The consequences of this is people have become trained to accept
mediocre software which is all Microsoft is capable of producing is
good enough. People also have been brainwashed into accepting nothing
from Microsoft works right until after SP1. How sad. Just think where
we could have been if Microsoft didn't end up being the 800 pound
gorilla.
While software in general has improved by leaps and bounds over the
past two decades, imagine how much FURTHER down the road we might have
been if Microsoft had some serious competition.
