Is task sharing still available in Outlook?

I am currently using Outlook 2000. I have a taskes folder that I use very
often and have started sharing it with co-workers so they can update it. We
have been having some issues sharing the folder (ie tasks duplicate or do not
update, list is different on each user's computer). Our IT guy says that "I
think depending on Outlook for the tasks functionality is futile because the
function is flaky! MS doesn't even support the sharing of tasks anymore! The
feature has been removed form newer versions of Outlook altogether." Is this
true?

I have a large list of jobs (constantly changing) that need to be completed.
I enter these jobs as tasks in Outlook. As they get worked on, various data
is added to custom fields I created in the task record, and once done the
task is marked completed. This way I can easily see what is done, being
worked on, due tomorrow, etc. I have the tasks folder shared with net
folders so that the 2 other people working on the jobs can enter the data and
completion themselves on their own computers. It is this sharing that is
giving us problems (ie tasks duplicate or do not update, list is different on
each user's computer, etc). I would prefer to fix these problems and
contiune using Outlook because when it works this system is easy, meets all
our needs, and already has more than a year's data that I reference. Our IT
guy says the problems are not fixable, that they are bugs in the application,
that shared tasks are not even supported by Microsoft anymore, and that we
need to find a different application. Is this true?
