is system.sys a necessary file?

my anti-virus software is telling me to delete the
file "system.sys" because it has a trojan. is this file
needed?

Probably not. It evidently is not a standard Windows 2000 file. It you
want to be cautious about it, make a copy of the file in another folder
and then delete the original. Do NOT move the file.
