is my XP installation stuck or just slow?

The installation of XP Professional started and is at the
window with 5 status indicators on the left side of the
screen and text describing the new features on the right.
The little light keeps moving across the bottom right of
the screen and the features text keeps changing as if the
program is doing something.

When this screen first appeared, it said (under the status
indicators on the left) -- "setup will complete in
approximately : 39 minutes". Well, that was over 300
minutes ago.

Is it really stuck or is the 39 minutes a really bad
estimate?

If it is stuck, what do I do now?

.........
I have re-installed my XP-Home ED..about 5-times so far..things seem to be
well balanced as far as INFO is concerned..in all that time I did use the
Quick Format once which had me return for a Complete Format..you stated you
have XP-Pro..which I understand to be XP-netwoking software..my XP-tells me
if I'm IN-Correct on some process..I would recommend takeing NOTES on the
Installations..so you can understand what and where you have been..I write
DVD-movies on my XP-Homes ED..after about a week of working 10-hour days on
one movie the PC-begins to faulter..this past job had me looseing two of the
last Copies..so a RE-Install was needed and ALL the UP-Dates also..now I'm
just Running the machine to get to the next MPEG-2 File..and not have it
dis-appear while I'm asleep..I could only say to Check on your FORMAT of the
Hard-Drive..was it a Complete Format..or..a Quick Format..??

to reduce that down, It is stuck, re-format and retry (i
think that is basically what s/he said

OK, I will try the whole thing over again tonight.
I had heard that XP was suppose to be more reliable and
stable. This doesn't look like a good start for
reliability when it says it is installing but is not.

After 8 hours, I just turned the computer off. It was the
only way to stop it.
