If you can create an MP3 file from a WAV file but
creative sound blaster" will not let you make a WAV file
from MP3 does this mean the WAV file is somehow inherently
superior to an MP#?

Simple answer---wav is simpler than mp3 file, for example, a wav will be
like a windows sound (beep), an mp3 will be an entire song---i don't
know the technical details, but generally, wav files are simple sound files.

Huh?
WAV is an uncompressed audio file, which will sound identical to the song on a
CD, if it is ripped as a WAV file. MP3 is a compressed audio file, and when
encoded at 128Kbps will sound nearly as good as the original CD. The benefit of
MP3 is that it only requires 1MB of hard drive space for each minute of music.
WAV, on the other hand requires 10MB.

*.WAV files can not be played on a CD Play in a car, etc.
MP3 files can now be played on most Protable and Car CD
Plalyers.

You can play *.wav file on your computer. If that is the
only place you are going to play them, then *.WAV file
format is OK.

Even though sound blaster may not convert a *.wav file to
MP3, Windows Media Play can, Roxio can, etc.
