For basic writing of letters, and doing tables....is Microsoft Word 2003
easier to use and easy to understand than 2002?

With basic things like that, I haven't seen a difference since I switched
from DOS-based to Windows-based versions of Word. If you are having
difficulty with writing a letter or making a table, I think a good book
might be in order. Try some of the MS Press books - "Step by Step" books are
nice. Easy without being cutesy. And the nice thing is that you can still
find books for the 2002 version of Word at your local bookstore.

Yes, slightly. It's also a great deal more reliable. The Help is better,
and it breaks documents far less often.

The Help [in 2003] is better, ...
Better than what, exactly?

Better than 2002, partly because a lot of the features didn't change between
versions and the Help had time to catch up?

LOL. The interface is so bad, I've never got as far as the content :)
