Or did I get mixed up with the CTP version release?

what about the status of .net 3?
 
BTW, I am looking the official release version for windows XP Pro not vista

No, it's not released. VS 2008 Beta2 exists only and RC will be soon.
Official release will happen in February 2008 probably

..NET 3.0 exists since november 2006.
..NET 3.5 will be released with VS 2008

I suppose RC is not for the public discussion for well knowing reasons, for
us :)
let's wait the official news from MS :)

Well, I'd expect Express to be available immediately, for everyone. I
don't know about retail versions of Visual Studio.
