Is it possible to send an e-mail to a category of people?

I'm trying to set up a bulk e-mail to a select group of people that I have
assigned to a specific category. Without having to create a separate
distribution list, is there a way Outlook can allow me to send an e-mail
based off of my category list?
 
Yes highlight the category and from the Action menu select New message to
Contact.
 
Okay, but what if some of those contacts don't have email addresses? Am I
then expected to individually remove those names, or do I have to make a
second category just for those with email?

I am also listed as a contact within this category. I really don't want to
email something to myself. Am I to delete that by hand too?

A distribution list (i.e. - group) is much simpler if it would only work.
