Is it possible to keep all the installed programs working after reinstalling XP?

I upgraded computer, now the system bugs like hell. I need to reinstall it,
but...

I've got lots of progs that probably won't work after I'll reinstall the XP.
I'll have to pay lots of $$$ to reinstall them. I don't want to, yet I
haven't found any clue on how to transfer/backup all installed programs for
use in a new system. The system transfer wizard won't work because it can
only transfer mail, accounts or specific file types, but not the whole
programs with their own registry and system settings.

So, is there any way to save my programs?

Did these programs come with the Computer when you purchased it or did you
download them.

It'd be better to find the cause of the slowdown.

Why would it cost money to re-install them? Don't you own copies of the
install media and licences for them, or did you "borrow" them from
someone. Not likely that anyone here is going to help you safegaurd
software you've pirated.

A repair install should keep programs intact but I only recommend that
as a next to last resort. Proper trouble shooting will solve most OS
problems. If you give details someone may be able to help you avoid
re-installing Windows.

It's a programm that was installed by my company for work purposes. I'll
have to take my computer to the city 300 miles away in order to reinstall
it.

I tried. Nothing works. The problem is with sound devices. I've got AC97
codec and external professional audio card. Only disabling drivers help. I
removed old drivers, reinstalled new - but nothing helped. I did a registry
clean-up - it didn't help either.

No, it's not pirated. It's my work software.

So, as I understand it's impossible to keep the the programs after
reinstalling Windows. I wish Microsoft make a tool that would allow that for
the next SP.
