Is it possible to disable the sidebar?

I am a teacher who has multiple students login to the computers. I know that
one user can disable the sidebar for them, but then when the next user logs
in, the sidebar returns.

Is there a way to disable the sidebar from an administrative point of view
so that it does not come up for any user?

Thanks

Hi Teach--

I don't know if you mean (but suppose) so that students can't re-enable it:

1) You can right click it or its icon>on right click context menu click
properties> uncheck start sidebar when windows starts. You can drag any
gadget off the sidebar and run it without the sidebar if you like.

2) I don't know how fast on the fly your students are-- it depends somewhat
but not entirely on age, but if you want to make them have to drill deeper
to find what you did, you can type

gpedit in run box>User Configuration>Windows Components>Windows
Sidebar>Right Click Turn Off Windows Sidebar>Put Radio Button in Enable.

Yes Redmond campus people do talk more funnier than most, so you're
"enabling" turning off windows sidebar. They talk real funny in the group
policy editor. I particularly like the "Classic Admin templates" in
multiple languages.

3) You could go to C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar>right click the sidebar
application>right click it>properties>security tab>add all permissions to
the admin>then go to the compatibility tab>privilege level>run this program
as admin.

Good luck,

Set a policy to not allow it to run. Look up Policies for more information,
as it sounds like you will probably be needing to learn how to set them for
more than just the SideBar.
