Hi - I installed a new drive and XP and Outlook 2000 and now wish to retrieve my email from the old drive. I did not export the msgs before installing the new drive. Is there still a way to retrieve the msgs? Where does Outlook store the messages, and in what format? Can I retrieve my contact email addresses somehow? And what about my IE Favourites?

Many thanks.

G'Day Tim,

Outlook stores your Personal Folders in a file with a .PST
extension.

In your current version of Outlook:
View>Folder List (if not already visible)
Right-Click the root folder (usually "Personal Folders" OR
"Outlook Today")
Select "Properties for..."
Click the "Advanced" button
Beside "Filename:", you will see the full path and File name
of your current .PST file.

Search your old HDD - possibly somewhere in
<Drive>:\Documents and Settings
\<UserName>
\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If you have no significant data in your new file, simply replace
it with the old file (with same name as the new file).

For IE Favourites - check
<Drive>:\Documents and Settings
\<UserName>
\Favorites
