Hi
I saw below a thread regarding the use of registry cleaners. I am using
Tonyarts free Easy Cleaner which cleans your obsolete files and registry
keys.

Is it dangerous to use this or not? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

If you don't want heart stopping moments leave well alone, on the
otherhand if your an advanced user and familiar with this type of
surgery then it is fine so long as you backup the registry before you
commence.

I wouldn't use a program that some kid made up , Sure
Tony knows his stuff with computers but if i was you i
would check to see what type of computer degree this kid
has , it take many years to understand the registry

I wouldn't run any Registry "cleaning" program. If you know enough to know
what to let it remove, you know enough to do it yourself.

My recommendation is not to use any registry cleaner. It provides
you with very little in the way of benefits, and subjects you to
extra risks.

Don't bother with a registry cleaner.

Previous versions of Easy Cleaner were known to break Help and Support. The
current version indicates that it can be used with XP. Several revisions
have been made to address other problems.

If you look at the list of fixes that Tony reports he's made with his
current version of Easy Cleaner you'll see that he claims that it is "Now
110% accurate." However you read later on that he's identified how certain
entries and files were being removed by Easy Cleaner causing programs to not
to respond correctly so he's created "Blacklists".

Tinkering with the registry can cause numerous problems that can be
difficult to ferret out. I wonder how many people post here with problems
that they've created themselves through the use of these registry cleaners
but never inform us that they've been running a registry cleaner. As others
have mentioned Windows NT based systems manage the registry differently than
Windows 9x based systems. Just leave the registry as is.

Having seen the results of inexperienced people using automated
registry "cleaners," I can only advise to you to avoid them all.

The only thing needed to safely clean your registry is knowledge
and Regedit.exe. If you lack the knowledge and experience to maintain
your registry by yourself, then you also lack the knowledge and
experience to safely configure and use any automated registry cleaner,
no matter how safe they claim to be.

I always use Regedit.exe, and strongly recommend the others learn
to do so. I trust my own experience and judgment far more than I would
any automated registry cleaner.
