Is IE7 stable enough to install yet?

I have been following the reports of the many problems that people have had
after updating to IE7. I am somewhat hesitant in installing it myself until
some of the bugs are worked out. I have also heard that some users have had
nothing but positive results with IE7.
My questions are:
Is it ready for the average level user to install without problems?
And, What steps are necessary or recommended to insure a flawless transition
from IE6?
What are the keys to success for those that experience no problems, and what
are the main conflicts that arise for those users that experience problems?

Firefox Browser (Installed but rarely used)

I installed IE 7 and now none of my desktop shortcuts will connect to the
internet- it just locks up! Help!

Try this:

Start / Run: regedit. Goto "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut" and rename
to "?InternetShortcut"

Then goto to: "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.url" and rename to "?.url"

Then doubleclick any desktop shortcut and setup "c:\program files\internet
explorer\iexplore.exe" to always open that typefile.

In any windows folder, tool / filetypes, URL, you can set your own icon for
that shortcuts, etc.

1) Wait for 6 months before installing
2) Wait for the first service pack for it
3) Don't install it unless you have a requirement for it

Leythos,
Thanks. This was the answer I was leaning toward anyway. You just confirmed
my reluctance.

What so you mean by 'yet'? NO changes are being made. What you get
today is what you got weeks ago.

Bah!

It is to MY advantage that YOU install IE7 because it lessens the chance
your machine will be taken over by goblins.

BS, IE7's not been out long enough to know what it will protect you
against and what exploits have not been uncovered.

There's also the fact that there are still many vendors that have not
finished migrating their solutions to IE 7, so they may not work once
the user installs 7.

If the machine was going to be compromised on IE 6, the same idiot
running the machine will be compromised on IE 7.

DO NOT INSTALL IE7 YET!!!!!.
It breaks a number of other programs and will not uninstall properly.
I eventually had to reinstall my entire PC to get rid of this , even a
repair of windows did not work after uninstalling.
Problems range from wireless not connecting properly, web pages not being
displayed, databases not working properly and spreadsheets not working
properly when linked to IE and not uninstalling properly, and all this in
less than 3 weeks of use even with all patches.
WAIT SOME MONTHS BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS INSTALL

Very good advice.
