Is Graphics Card Going Bad

About once a week in the past month the screen goes black and I have no
mouse control. I reboot and all is OK. Yesterday I got a system error
(ati2dvag display driver has stopped) that there was a problem in the
graphics card (Radeon 9600)driver. I loaded the lastest driver. All seemed
OK. But today, a few minutes ago I lost mouse control and an error was
generated, but the system recovered w/o reboot. Is my graphics card going
bad?

How would you know about mouse control if the screen is all black?

Are you playing some game or whatever application when you lose the video
display driver?
