Anyone know what the function of this "share" is on XP Home? (revealed by
typing net share at a command prompt)?

Can it be safely deleted by your average home user on a standalone computer
or would that result in any major loss of computer functionality?

Jon:

It is a system administrative share. If you delete it, it should reappear.
