Ip question on bridge

Hello

I have "built" some network bridges to finalize my network but I'm still
having some problems.

Here's the config.

PC1 "JC"

RJ45 with IP 192.168.0.2
1394 with IP 192.168.0.3
BRIDGE with RJ45 and 1394 with IP 192.168.0.9

PC2 "ACER"

RJ45 with IP 192.168.0.11
1394 with IP 192.168.0.12
WIFI with IP 192.168.0.13
BRIDGE with RJ45, 1394 and WIFI with IP 192.168.0.19

WIFI AP, internet gateway all in one with IP 192.168.0.1

Now when I want to ping and so on, should I ping for each connection on
each machine or should I only ping the bridge ?

The WIFI is not working yet but this will be the next step, i'd like to
have all "normal" network running and then we'll see about wifi.

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for posting here!

As far as I know, when you create a network bridge, the associated two
network adapter will not be considered as a stand alone any more. That is
to say, in PC1 "JC", after you configured network bridage, the RJ45 and
1394 are not valid any more. So, you should ping the IP address for the
network bridge.

For PC2 "ACER", I cannot understand why you can bridge three network
connection. As I know, network bridge can only be done with two different
network connection.

Have a nice day!

Hello,

Thanks for the info on the bridges

I have bridged all I could on PC2 becuase it made more sense to me like
that "1 computer = 1 IP" than like "1 computer, 3 networks = 3 IPs"

I have removed the WIFI from the bridge and when i connect the cable all
is well but the wifi alone cannot allow me to connect thorugh the network.

Config is now as follows

PC1 "JC" unchanged

PC2 "ACER"

RJ45 and 1394 bridged 192.168.0.19
WIFI 192.168.0.11

I can see the WIFI packets going from the card to the AP, signal is good
but there is no ping possible and of course no network...

Thanks for the help

Hi,

For test purpose, let us disable the network bridge on PC2 "ACER", only
enable WIFI. Will WIFI work at the moment?

Have a nice day!
