Ip conflict

I have XP Home on my PC and laptop and have just bought Packard Bell's
Net2Plug to set up a network between the two. The problem is, it keeps
telling me that there is an IP conflict as both have the same IP address.
Does anyone know how to change the default gateway to another address?

gateway should be the same on both , check your TCP/IP properties ...on one
computer , increase the last digit by 1
