How do you find your IP address in XP Home? In Windows ME I used
winipcfg.exe. In Windows XP I see ..\System32\ipconfig.exe but when I
double
click it I see a black window flash but nothing else.

Go to Start > Run, type cmd and click okay/hit enter, then type ipconfig in
the command window and hit enter.

What happens when you type such a command in Start | Run is that
a command prompt window opens, the command executes, and the
window then closes before you have a chance to read the results.

You've got the right idea, but the wrong execution. Just open the
command prompt window yourself (type CMD at the Start | Run line)
then type ipconfig in it. You'll see the results and the window
won't close until you do it manually.

Thank you all. I've since learned that in the Control Panel - Network
Connections if I double click on my local area connection I get a status box
which tells everything you'd ever need to know about your network
connection.
