IP Address?

My computer is not renewing my IP address when I start the computer in the
morning. So I have no internet connection. I was clicking the internet
icon to repair and it fixed the problem. Today there was no icon to click
on. I got it back by using a system restore.

According to a road runner technician, I need to reinstall my operating
system.
My computer is still under warranty so I am not going to turn it off till I
talk to Dell.

Does this sound like good advice? Any other suggestions?

You should not need to reinstall the operating system (the tech was just
being lazy at that point and trying to keep his/her troubleshooting time to
a minimum).

Who or what is a"road runner" tech,some fly-by-night service.....Either way,
dell usually runs intel hardware,try going to intel.com,download the drivers/
software for youre internet hardware.Also,you can/could create a new user,
open xp in new user account,if all is well,then the old account is simply
corrupted,delete it...

Mike - There is no reason that anyone outside the States would know that.
The world is a very big place.
