IP Address Query

I have two machines networked together , one running XP Pro and the other
running Win98 , the XP Pro is the main one that uses ICS to connect to my
ISP using a dial up modem.

I have been checking out the security logs and I find that all traffic to my
ISP is using the IP address of 124.168.87.201 and ports 1051 - 1288.

The IP address I use for this XP machine is 168.0.0.1 for the ICS and
connecting to my other machine and when I do a tracert and ping of
124.168.87.201 it comes up as my machine , so what is this IP address ? is
it a local loopback IP or is it XP phoning home ?

Thanks.

It's probably your external IP address. Check it out at www.whatismyip.com.

Thanks ,
I ended up finding out a bit later on that the IP address is a reverse DNS
IP address , and your link to the web page confirms it.
