IP ADDRESS CHANGE ISSUES / QUESTION -Multiple IP Addresses on PDC

We have WIN2000 Server which is the PDC with IP address 10.0.0.14 > We want
to change the IP Address scheme of the Network and at the same time support
both the old and new network PCs. We change the NIC IP address (Primary
Address from 10.0.0.14 to 172.19.8.34) We also configure Secondary IP to
10.0.0.14 (the original address. We are not Routing between the two networks
so this is not a routing issue. We simple want the PDC the authenticate
users on both networks to Server resources.

We are hoping that the WIN2000 will continue to service both address spaces
until we move the PCs on the 10.0.0.0 Network to the 172.19.8.0 Network.
After the change PCs that are on the 10.0.0.0 network that log-off the
WIN2000/Domain or reboot, can not log back into the domain. If you are
connected you continue to work until log-off. Rebooting the Server does not
correct this issue. If you go back to the original configuration the
10.0.0.0 devices can log back into the system.

Is there a problem with supporting multiple IP / Networks on the same NIC of
the PDC?

Both IP Addresses are responding to PING /ICMP requests but logging into the
domain is another story, any thoughts?

1. Build the new "network" just as if you were simply adding a new subnet.
2. Yes, you will need to "route" between them.
3. Yes, you will have endless amounts of trouble the way you are attempting
it (if it even works at all)
4. Move the machines over to the new network, while the routing will cover
the ones that haven't been moved yet.
5. When there are no machines left in the old network, eliminate it.

A. Multiple IP#s on same NIC = All IP#s must be in same subnet
B. Single IP# on multiple NICs = Each NIC must be in a different subnet
C. Only special "teaming Nics" should be run with multiple NICs in the same
subnet.
