IO Error 32

Can anyone tell me what is the IO Error 32. I have two XP machines, and a server running 2000 server. The Server has a program running in DOS that the XP computers look towards to run the program. The old computers running Windows 98 never have a problem printing, but the windows XP computers get an IO Error 32 every now and then and they will not print. It does that only on the XP computers not the winodws 98 computers. The company that made the program, that runs in DOs doesn't seem to know what is causing this. Has anyone ever seen this problem?

Hi Curt,

Does the dos program require direct control of or access to the printer? If
so, that will not work in WinXP.

The way the program looks like to me that it does. Why will that not work in XP but will in 98?

Hi,

Because WinXP runs dos programs in an emulator and does not allow for direct
hardware access by programs. There is no underlying dos layer.
