Invites not appearing as tentative in calendar - Oulook 2003

Appointment/meeting invites sent to me by others used to appear as tentative
in my calendar prior to my accepting or declining them. Recently they have
stopped doing this, and when I view the actual invite it has a message across
the top saying this meeting does not appear in my calendar - it may have been
moved or changed.

Any idea as to where to look to see what could have caused this change in
behavior?

Thanks

Hi there

Outlook uses a piece of code called the sniffer to add invites as tentative
items to your Calendar.

Most likely reasons for it not to fire are

1) the setting for this behaviour may be switched off: Tools > Options >
(Preferences) > Email Options > Tracking Options > Process requests and
responses on arrival

2) the sniffer only works on the Inbox so if the item gets moved by a rule
then it may not get 'sniffed'. In this case, figure out which rules may
apply on invites and add the exception "except if it is a meeting invitation
or update" on the last page of the rules wizard.

See http://bwain-dump.blogspot.com/2007/06/outlook-inbox-sniffer.html for
deeper explanation and troubleshooting.

Hi techieBird!
I have an user who always appears as tentative even if appointment is
accepted/declined. Also we cannot see her availability on outlook before
sending the appointment on a approprietated time.
Now I realize user changed (under outlook settings) to all msgs arrived
being moved to a pst file instead of mailbox
I didnt call user again to not give her false hope in case of no success but
do you think if she start using mailbox again as primary recipe this will
work?

You can further control what users can do with delivery options through
group policy. Re-routing to PST is a terrible idea and the user probably
does not realize that the messages are no longer backed up.
