A friend who uses Outlook Express finds that some of his emails are
supposed to have arrived in his inbox but can't be seen, it says he has
email but it simply are not there. This only seems to happen with a few
of his correspondents. He has checked his filters, he has disconnected
his anti-spam/anti-virus software to no avail. Can anyone help please.

I bet the folks in microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general could.

Hard to say without any information on version, type of mail account and
what indication he uses to see that there is email which he can't see.

Totally understood, and because he cannot for some reason see my emails
sent to him I cannot give you the info you require and he is not an IT
person and also he lives in another country from me and would not be
technically competent enough to carry out complicated instructions. I am
afraid I will have to leave it there but thank you all the same.

Actually, I have one question that might be answerable. What does 'cannot
see my emails' mean? Do you mean he doesn't get them, or he does get them
and they're missing text?

Outlook says they are coming in, also that he has unread mail but when
he opens up his mailbox, they ain't there. Also, the other unusual
factor that might throw light on this puzzle is that this happens to my
mail to him and also to one of his daughters. Funny thing is, the others
send photos and large files from time to time and he gets them and can
open the files.
It is selective in its behaviour for some mysterious reason. He can by
the way send me mail and when I open them and reply, he cannot view them
in his inbox despite being told they have arrived and are unread.
Hope that helps and sorry for not noticing your post sooner.

If I had to guess, he has a filter on his inbox that is hiding messages from
you. Have him look at the status bar and tell you what it says.
