Invalid Syntax Error

I found a problem on Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2800.1106 Update Version:
SP1; Q324929; Q833989.

Our mail server url is something like http://www.abc.com:20000 but the IE
will show me "Invalid Syntax Error". Only Mozilla Firefox can access to it.

How to solve this problem?

Windows version? It would appear that the machine is /seriously/ out-of-date at Windows Update.

Is an anti-virus application and firewall present on the machine?
