Invalid setting in the Excel Key of the engines section of the Windows Registry

I am receiving the following error when trying to export
data to Excel from a third parties program.
The error is "Invalid setting in the Excel Key of the
engines section of the Windows Registry"
I have tried the KB articles relating to this error, but
the registry settings were already in place.
Is there a dll that needs re-registering?
