Invalid product id

Derek

When installing oem xp on newly built pc I get to the
product id screen and enter the code (re-checked a
thousand times) and get the error "The product id you have
entered is invalid".

There is no bios anti-virus running, it is a completely
clean install.

Any clues? Who do I call? I'm in the UK.

Thanks

Derek

You call the OEM for support on issues with OEM products (including OEM
supplied operating systems)

Derek;
Are you using the Product Key that came with that CD?
There are many different types and they are not interchangeable.

Look very closely.
O-0, G-6, I-1 and others look alike.
Have someone else try, sometimes another set of eyes and fingers can
get it.

Otherwise contact the seller, Microsoft can not help with OEM.

Greetings --

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5,"
or a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense
to leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation.
Also, be sure that your CapsLock if _off_ while entering the Product
Key.

you either have mistaken some O's for 0's...or some B's for 8's...etc.....or
you have a pirated copy of XP.....
