Invalid Login Error - Services Do Not Start

W

WH

Recently, I re-booted my SBS2000 Server and I received a
msg. indicating that at least one service or driver failed
on startup. My event log id's indicated ID's 7000 and 7001.

At this point, I cannot go into the administrator or
personal console - - when I attempt to do so, I get a
screen that indicates a script error was encountered . . .

Any ideas?

Any more details about those errors? 7000 can point to failing exchange
services.
Have a look at 277770 for that.
What did you do before you rebooted?

Hi Marina:

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary prior to
re-booting. . .

At least one service or driver failed during system
startup. Use the Event Viewer to examine the event log
for details.

I have Event ID's 7000 and 7001.

If I go into ctrl panel and try to access add/remove
programs, etc.. nothing appears.

If I go into services and try to start automatic services -
they don't start.

I can access the admiistrator console - but get a script
error and nothing appears after that. . . i.e. Cannot
access users, etc...

I tried to manually start some of the automatic services
and I get errors like "The dependency service of group
failed to start."

P.S. I had all patches through SP4 installed and Norton
Antivirus was up to date. I did a scan with no virus detected.

Hi Will,

Can you please give some more details about those events? Can you remote
login from another workstation and view the eventlogs and services?

Marina
