invalid dll

yes I am trying to repair win xp pro, when I run disc to repair it stops and
I get message as follows: cannot install windows because of existing
installed os ,the only windows installed is same one trying to fix. message
is:C:\WINDOWS\system32\mesgcompid.dll is not valid. Any to fix this,need to
fix without losing data.
thank you need help!
 
Hi

It's not a valid a Windows file. Have you got access to Windows to run a
virus and spyware check?
