PLEASE HELP.... SOMEONE!! Everytime I must reboot my computer I get a popup
box that says, "Invalid backweb application 137903". It pops up about 4 or 5
times EVERY bootup despite my closing the box. If someone has some insight
into this I would be most grateful! Steven King

Stephen King:
I have a swell idea. Why don't you do a Google search on "Invalid backweb
application 137903"?

Hi There,

Is your computer an HP, a little research told me that backweb is a tool
provided by HP to information about your to HP.

Click start, click run and type msconfig, click ok, select the startup tab
and untick and references to the backweb application.

hope that helps ?

Thats interesting link Ramesh, I knew it was as application supplied on HP
machines, so it seems you need it but a spyware tool may of removed part of
it, which in turn causes the error, I think this tool is similar to what's
provided on Dell machines because they have a tool that offers updates, etc.

You're welcome Andy. Backweb is shipped with HP/Compaq/Dell and possibly
with any other branded PCs. IIRC, it's only an optional application. The
drivers and other machine specific updates can be downloaded from
manufacturer's site as well.

This was EXACTLY what I needed. I have suffered with this problem MUCH too
long!!! Thank You so much for your help- Steve

Thanks, Anna, I did that but diue to my inexperience I got myself deeper in
trouble. In fact, the notes I found told me this was a spyware application.
So I deleted (several) but not all "backwebs" and in the end had to restore
previous settings. Ramesh, MS-MVP sent me a link to HP, which he guessed was
my brand the allowed me to download a page that helped. But thank you so much
for your response- Steve
