When I click on a link in either a website or email the window that opens
REPLACES the original window instead of opening in another window. When I
close this new window it takes me out of the search engine and I have to
re-execute (same thing happens in IE6.0 or Firefox). I do not have the same
problem on my other laptop (Toshiba w/XP Home and same versions of IE and
Firefox). Have tried all of tbe settings I can think of in Internet Options,
Control Panel, MSCONFIG, etc... nothing seems to work. Please someone, help
me!!!!

On my computer ,Windows vista beta 2, you just go to internet options
and under the general tab there is a button to change that setting

Go to tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer.
Click on "Advanced" tab, scroll down and clear the option "Reuse windows for
launching shortcuts".

FireFox - Tools - Options - Tabs - New window or whatever you want.

This "solution" has been offered on several replies to same/similar problems.
It hasn't worked for anyone else and it didn't work for me. Any other ideas?

Try this---go to---->
control panel>folder options>general> select "Open each folder in its own
window", under Browse Folders.
I kind of thought this did it for me, hope it solves your problem.

Either Use the right hand mouse button to click the link and select open
in New Window OR, use the Backspace key or the Back button to return to
the previous web page. If you are surfing from one page to another, and
close the only window you have open, of course you will "have to start
over".
