Internet time sunchronization

I've recently noticed that my Windows XP no longer is able to
synchronize its clock with either time.windows.com or time.nist.com.
Even when I do it manually I get
"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with ....."

How do I troubleshoot this problem.

The default time.nist.gov seems to be defunct. Try typing/pasting time-
nw.nist.gov into the Server box and click on Update.

Some users overcame the problem by using: time-b.nist.gov
