"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with [time.windows.com] or
[time.nist.gov]". --- This is all I can get any more with either time
services. Never had problem until a few months ago. I have the same problem
after disabling the only firewall, which is the only recommendation in "Help
and Support Center" linked from within the "Date and Time Properties" box.

Using XP Home, v2002, SP2.

BOOM!! That worked instantly!! Thanks, Gary! (Wonder what could have
happened to the "default" time servers packaged with XP! Oh well! Better
things to worry about!)

You're welcome.
