To the PC security Issue Department

I have a PC running Windows 2000 professional
with all the latest service packs installed sp4-OK

With a version 6 McAfee Virus Scan software, which I ran a
scan and there seems to be no infected files?

But When I connect to the internet via my modem through
Mindspring the Network connection window keeps displaying
that it is sending data out. Even when I have not opened
Outlook or sent or received Email

Is this an indication of a virus or worm???

Sincerely,

Willis

Not necessarily. There is data being sent all the time to maintain the
connation. It could possibly be spyware or legitimate programs such as Windows
Update. You would need to install a personal firewall that can log traffic to
see exactly what is going on. Sygate is a free firewall with advanced logging
abilities. A program like SpyBot Search and Destroy can scan and remove
spyware/adware. --- Steve
