internet problim

i keep loosing my internet it shows i am connected and i have a ipaddress
from the dhcp server.

the only fix i have is that i restart my computer and it works again for a
bit.

my ISP says everything is ok on there end and it might be spyware but i have
ran it upteen times also ran www.housecall.trendmicro.com and norton online
scans

I am running
Norton System Works 2005
Microsoft Anti Spyware
all windows updates
all norton updates
WIndows Firewall

No Router

It's a problem I've had ever since I built this particular machine I'm using
right now which is running Win XP Pro.
I've managed to reduce the number of disconnections to about two a day by
upgrading the modem firmware and you might want to check the manufacturer's
site for one too.

But basically what's happening is that your PC is not renewing your DHCP
lease as explained here:
