Internet problem (big time!!!)

Ok! very cunfused at this point.
i had vista and XP on the same computer 2 hard drives. well..i took out the
vista harddrive and just used the XP now i didnt do anything to the computer
before i took out the vista drive THEN all of the sudden a few days later the
internet stops working with that computer BUT YET it works through internet
explorer but not firefox or anything else!!! I dont know what to do. i really
dont want to have to reinstall windows. what can i do? i really need help
with this now!
ALL I DID WAS TAKE OUT THE HARDDRIVE! that's all i did! then it just stops
working for NO REASON AT ALL!

PS. XP was the first windows on this computer then i just put in vista and
after i took vista out the boot screen is still there O_O dont know why!

I would really like help with this if anyone can. :)

From your description the problem started several days after the drive with
Vista was removed, not immediately on it's removal, so something happened in
those intervening days. Have you tried a system restore going back to when
it worked?

Otherwise provide more details of the problem, error messages, when it
happens, in what programs, how it's manifested, computer configuration,
etc.

When Vista was installed it installed boot files on the system partition
which I am guessing is where XP is installed. So just removing the Vista
drive doesn't remove those boot files.

The easiest way to remove them is to use VistaBootPro.

ok well, i've tried winsockfix and im trying to system restore to see what
happened. but the internet on that computer only works through internet
explorer and that it. all the other ones say "unable to connect" or like
World Of Warcraft says "Connection refused"

You would probably get it fixed a lot faster by simply reinstalling XP and
then restoring your data from backup.

true.
hmm. im trying to reinstall World of Warcraft now and see but if this doesnt
work then i'll just reinstall XP all together. this is really annoying -__-
anyother things i can do besides reinstalling windows?

Have you checked that your firewall isn't blocking Firefox and the other
programs? Tried reinstalling Firefox?

well i reinstalled WoW and firefox and firefox works again but WoW still
doesnt -___- i configured my router to work with WoW but still nothing but
Firefox works...which doesnt make sense i tried Winsockfix and NOTHING GOD
THIS IS ANNOYING! idk what to do -___-
