Yesterday, when I went into Internet Options in the Tools
drop down menu, I got an error message that said 'This
operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect
on this computer. Please contact your systems
administrator.'

I am running XP Pro and I am the only one who uses this
system. I have not made any changes that I am aware of.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

David

Did you install SpyBot?

When I go to 'Tools' 'Internet Options' I get the following error:
This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator.

If you have SpyBot S & D installed, go to SpyBot - Search and Destroy
Immunize, and UNcheck the "Lock IE Control Panel..." box.

If you have troubles with your browser not having all the controls in the
expected
places download and run this .reg file.

You may have used a Spy killer program recently, and
blocked access to this settings.
If you used Spybot Search and Destroy, open it in advanced
mode, click on Inmunize, and deselect the last to
checkboxes on the right panel.

.
I have this same problem, but when I went into spybot
the "Lock IE Control Panel..." box did not appear. I do
remember checking it though when I immunized once..
